Speed cameras coming to NL

    Smile speeders....you're on camera

Starting next month, Mount Pearl and Paradise will be the sites of a traffic camera pilot project. Signs showing that speed cameras are in use will be installed at different locations. The cameras will read licence plates, and take pictures  of the back of vehicles going over the speed limit. That information will include date, time and location of the offence, direction and speed the vehicle was travelling; and the posted speed limit. Notices will be mailed to registered owners. Minister Sarah Stoodley says, “speeding on our roadways is a significant public safety concern. This pilot project will help in the design of a wider program that can be available to municipalities across the province.
