Corner Brook MHA Gerry Byrne says funding for a major capital works project in the city was announced a few weeks ago.
Byrne was responding to comments made by Mayor Jim Parsons on BOIR News yesterday. Parsons said many communities are still waiting for funding to get big projects started. Byrne says $1.35 million was announced for work on Curling Street a few weeks ago. He says construction season is here and work needs to start so tenders need to be called.
Meanwhile, yesterday government announced $24.6 million dollars has been awarded to five contracts aimed at strengthening provincial roads and highways to withstand the impacts of climate change. All of these are for projects on the east coast.
