Report moose sightings, don't approach them

Moose are calving this time of year and can become aggressive

Lots of moose sightings in many areas, including Corner Brook,  as young calf are being pushed away by their mothers. Local level 3 Conservation officer Sara Richards says it’s calving season now and these animals need space. Richards says while moose attacks are very rare, if an agitated animal does come at you, it’s best to hide behind a tree or get in the fetal position. She says it’s also a good idea to keep dogs on a leash and under control while walking in wooded areas. She says moose sightings within the city should be reported to the Massey Drive Forestry office at 632-9897
