Numbers ready to take off at the Deer Lake Aiport

    New airline services added

The President and CEO of the Deer Lake Regional Airport is looking forward to a good travel season, despite the pullout of Westjet. Tammy Priddle says last year, they had 82 percent of the number of pre-covid travelers pass through the airport and covid travel restrictions weren’t totally lifted until May of last year. Priddle says they ended the year with a revenue of about 4.5 million dollars  and expenses were at 5 million. She says some of that is related to inflation. Priddle says the big challenge this year is having enough seats to meet the demand from or customers. She says with new services offered by Swoop, Sunwing, Flair and Air Canada this will fill the void left by Westjet. She says lots of things are happening at the airport and there’s been significant investment in infrastructure over the past few years.
