Energy Minister Andrew Parsons says there are 19 wind projects currently awaiting approval from government. Parsons is just back from the World Energy Summit in the Netherlands, which had 20,000 attendees, including a 75 person delegation from this province. He says it’s hard to know what business will come about because of it but we need to be more visible, and we need to get started. Meanwhile, on a social media page owned by the Environmental Transparency Committee, it mentions the Council of Canadians are now asking for a federal assessment of the wind energy project being developed on the Port au Port Peninsula. Minister Parsons says he understands why some people are concerned about hydrogen or wind projects but nothing has been approved yet. He says the 19 proposals currently before government are from all across the province. Minister Parsons says it’s a brand new industry that’s going on everywhere, Britain gets most of its power from wind energy, and Scotland makes more from offshore wind than offshore oil.
